MEET DR. BRITTON
Jonathan grew up in the town of Bracebridge, located in beautiful Muskoka. He attended the University of Guelph and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science, before being accepted to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario. During his time in dental school, he completed several volunteer externships including a placement in a Northern Ontario Native community as well as with the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team at the University of Maryland in Baltimore, USA. After graduating from dental school, Jonathan elected to complete a hospital internship at London Health Sciences where he gained valuable experience working with patients facing various medical concerns who required dental care.
Following two years in general dental practice in Hamilton, Jonathan was accepted to the Graduate Orthodontic program at the University of Toronto. This is a specialized three year program that includes a research and thesis element for which Jonathan has won various awards. In 2006 he received his Masters of Science degree in Orthodontics and his Fellowship in the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.
After completing his degree, Jonathan was excited to accept a position at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto where he now works as a part-time orthodontist caring for children with cleft lip and palate and craniofacial disorders. Currently Jonathan is a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, the Ontario Dental Association and the American Cleft Palate – Craniofacial Association.
Outside of the demands of building his new practice, Jonathan works equally hard at raising his three young children alongside his wife, Louise – a freelance researcher and journalist.
Jonathan looks forward to enjoying his many interests when the days of early parenthood are behind him. His greatest passions are music, good food and friends and returning to his roots by enjoying the great outdoors.
